Purpose
One work piece is picked up at a time.
This mechanism is used for round work pieces. The gaps between the work pieces create enough space for escapement.
Points for use
Pneumatic automated mechanism.
Target workpiece
Plastic case
External dims.
φ120 x H20
Workpiece weight: 0.3kg
Design Specifications
Operating Conditions or Design Requirements
Stroke: 20mm
External dimensions: W221 x D220 x H302
Required Performance
Workpiece retaining load: 0.2N-10N
Selection Criteria for Main Components
Cylinder
A cylinder that can generate enough force to oscillate the work stopper up and down is selected.
Design Evaluation
Verification of main components
A cylinder that can generate enough force to oscillate the work stopper up and down is selected.
Cylinder
Select a cylinder capable of generating 60N (2x safety margin) of vertical force.
Pick out a 60N cylinder from the catalog, and obtain the tube I.D.
I.D. = √ (60 × 4 ÷ (0.5 × 0.4 × π) )
= 19.5
Therefore, select a φ20mm cylinder.
Other Design Consideration
Select a cylinder stroke so that the stopper pins rise above the work piece.
Ensure the shape and size of the stopper pin fits within the gaps between the work pieces.
Sensors are needed to detect work piece presence and confirm cylinder stroke.
